England Run Riot in Ruthless 3-0 Wembley Win Over Wales

Updated: Oct 29, 2025

England brushed aside Wales with a dominant 3-0 victory in an international friendly at Wembley Stadium, scoring all three goals in an opening 20-minute blitz.

Morgan Rogers struck early for his first senior England goal, before Aston Villa teammate Ollie Watkins and the returning Bukayo Saka added their names to the scoresheet. Wales had no response as England’s intensity overwhelmed the visitors from kick-off.

Despite this being labelled as a “friendly”, this fixture always carries extra weight between these two fierce rivals.

The result keeps Thomas Tuchel’s side in high spirits ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Riga in World Cup qualifying, where they look to maintain their perfect record.

For Wales, it raises serious questions, with Craig Bellamy needing an immediate response ahead of Monday’s crucial clash with Belgium in Cardiff.

Two set pieces were the undoing of Wales in the opening eleven minutes in London. Firstly, a half-cleared corner fell to Marc Guehi, who squared it for Rogers to finish from close range.

Just eight minutes later, Watkins doubled the lead, tapping in from just over a yard out after poor Welsh marking from another set piece.

Saka made it 3-0 in the 20th minute, gliding past two Wales defenders before curling a sublime strike into the top corner off his stronger left foot. The hosts were in full control, while Wales looked stunned, pinned in their half and struggling to string just a few passes together.

Multiple substitutions came from both sides in the second half, which left the game disoriented at times; however, the visitors did improve, and their 7,000 sold-out away end created some incredible noise to rally their team.

Two half-chances from David Brooks and Chris Mepham were both comfortably stopped by Jordan Pickford, denying any chance of a late flurry from Craig Bellamy’s men.

This result extends England’s unbeaten streak over Wales to eight matches, with Wales’ last victory coming in 1984 in the British Home Championship.

England will have their sights set on World Cup glory for the first time since 1966 next year, while Wales still have quite a lot to do if they are to join their fierce rivals in the competition.
